Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use SquirrelGard on top of rubber PVC boot covers?
SquirrelGard is only recommended for protecting lead plumbing jack flashings.
If your lead jacks have been chewed down to expose the PVC pipe, it may be difficult to tell what size(s) you need. If you can safely climb on your roof to measure your plumbing jacks, (remember to practice roof and ladder safety measures!) use a flexible tape measure (like for measuring clothing) to measure the exterior circumference of the remaining lead jack flashing. Then use the chart below to see what size SquirrelGard you should order to protect that lead jack flashing.
|SquirrelGard Model||Product Dimensions||Existing Lead Jack|
|SG2||(Interior Dimension 3 in. +/-)
Covers lead jack flashings up to 2 in. diameter
|1.5 in. diameter / ~ 7 3/8 in. circumference
2 in. diameter / ~ 9 1/4 in. circumference
|SG3||(Interior Dimension 4 1/2 in. +/-)
Covers lead jack flashings up to 3 in. diameter
|3 in. diameter / ~ 12 3/8 in circumference|
|SG4||(Interior Dimension 5 1/2 in. +/-)
Covers lead jack flashings up to 4 in diameter
|4 in. diameter / ~ 18 1/4 in circumference|
How long is the pipe portion of the SquirrelGard?
All sizes measure approximately 10 1/2″ on the long end of the pipe.
What if I have a flat roof? Can I still use SquirrelGard?
Yes! Please call us at 713-501-9447 to place your order and designate that you have a flat roof.
We can send you flat roof SquirrelGards.
Why is Squirrelgard a better choice?
Squirrelgard is not made of plastic, so it won’t degrade in UV sunlight, like other products. It won’t crack or split in harsh weather. Forget the plastic imitations that require screwing into your lead jack, creating more opportunities for water to penetrate. Squirrelgard is durable and your most cost effective solution.
What if I need a larger size than SG4? What if I need a SquirrelGard with a longer pipe?
